Did That Just Happen?! Beyond Diversity
The Institute of Sustainable Diversity and Inclusion (ISDI) is offering a Learning Cohort on DEI Practice for current and aspiring DEI and HR practitioners and leaders in 2025.
In this climate of attacks on DEI and all other kinds of activities that label and demean people, we believe there must be a cadre of professionals who stand up for decency, respect, fairness, and organizational integrity. We see the Learning Cohort as providing a safe place for equipping and nurturing this cadre.
Why a Cohort?
We know many practitioners are wondering how to maintain and manage the focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion. We know there are questions about how to be effective in this new era—as a practitioner, advisor, guide, and support person.
Meeting together with other likeminded folks on a regular basis allows participants to develop relationships with others who are contending with similar issues. It also has the added benefit of being able to provide continuity in learning and discussion.
What is the meeting schedule?
The Cohort, a small group (limit 20), will meet consistently over a period of six months (June-Nov), in 2-hour sessions, to discuss challenges members are facing and how to maintain a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Why join? To learn about cutting-edge issues for practitioners!
Together the cohort will discuss:
-
- Implications of the attacks on diversity, equity, and inclusion
- How to provide relevant guidance to leaders in this disruptive DEI climate
- Which DEI initiatives are best to implement at this time
- What’s legal in the current DEI environment
- How to protect and support employees who are fearful
- DEI-related conflicts among employees
- Cohort members’ questions and concerns

What will the six sessions cover?
1 | Jun 12 | Understanding the job, your role as a change agent, and your DEI readiness |
2 | Jul 24 | Using best practice tools to guide your work (standards and surveys to determine gaps, change management frameworks, implement change, and measure progress) |
3 | Aug 14 | Setting the organizational framework for DEI |
4 | Sep 11 | Developing a DEI Action Plan aligned with business strategies |
5 | Oct 9 | Developing necessary relationships with internal and external key players, influencers, and stakeholders |
