Special Events

In addition to our NW Diversity Learning Series Workshops, ISDI will host three Special Events this year. These events will be held in April, June, and October. They will last 45 to 90 minutes and are intended to address a current hot topic. The speed with which laws have been changing and instiutions have been responding is breakneck these days. Our special events will provide insight from relevant thought leaders and offer a space to convene and discuss one of the many current challenges of the moment related to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.

While the Special Events will be shorter in duration than our Series Workshops, they will be no less filled with tension, complexity, or interest. In 2025, we are tackling tough issues head on!

Topic & Presenter TBD

Potential Topics:

  • AI: How to use it to our advantage and avoid the pitfalls?
  • Mentoring: How to get it in an era of remote work?
  • Legal landscape: What’s legal with DEI now?
  • Antisemitism: Can we separate antisemitism from criticism of Israel?
  • Gender attacks: Will women/gender minorities lose ground in organizations?
  • White male privilege: Are we looking at a new era of dominance?
  • Millennials & Gen Z: How are they changing organizations?
  • Equity: Can there be fairness in the workplace without it?

Why address these topics?

With the new administration, it appears Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion will be challenged constantly – in all kinds of forms. Lots of people, organizations, and communities will be affected. The NW Diversity Learning Series intends to be a trusted resource on these current issues, helping people become more informed and aware of the consequences.
